We have led hundreds of field trips to the Island for local Valley schools as well as many schools all across the country.

THROUGH THIS NATURE CENTER

Local educators and naturalists, George and Scarlet Colley have  expanded their educational program into the Valley school districts  by bringing these programs into the schools.

The Colleys will work with the teachers so that information pertaining to the program will be on exhibit and readily available for the students.

A large part of learning is self-discovery, so presenting the student with the resources to learn more about the wonderful nature of their area will inspire them to pursue it.

Many of the materials available to the students will also be referenced throughout the program.

THE PROGRAM

consists of both a multimedia display and hands-on marine life. A short video and slide-show documents the Colleys ten-years of research on the Bottlenose Dolphins as well as highlighting the migratory birds of the valley.

The living exhibits will consist of fascinating creatures such as hermit crabs,  sea horses, starfish, shrimp, snails, and many more for both student and teacher to marvel over. Hands on exhibits will offer the student a vast variety of sea life.

IN ADDITION
to providing information on sea life ecology the program will also include topics on the trash and conservation issues along the Texas coast.
SETUP AND BREAK DOWN

The field trip to your classroom will take around thirty minutes and the program itself will usually last approximately forty five minutes. Also think about bringing in other classes to the program and setting it up in the library or a commons room.

Up to five programs can be held in one day with two classes per program. Five presentations is the maximum for one day with a minimum of two.

The fee for the program is $4.00 per child with a minimum of four classes participating.
