Is that Tropical Parula in a Tepeguaje tree (Great Lead tree)?
I'm sorry to bring this up but I really feel I have to. I just read Paul Baicich's email about the Eleania where he speculates that it might have fallen prey to the "many feral cats" that roam the area. I am slowly coming to the conclusion that we who put feeders up (and I know these lots on SPI have oranges & such during migration) have a further responsibility to trap cats when they venture onto the properties. If we fail to do so, we have created what is called an 'attractive nuisance'. Birds are drawn to these areas (and then cats are drawn to the birds) and then significant mortality takes place. It is irresponsible for us as bird lovers to attract birds to are yards, but fail to control their NON-NATIVE (and very efficient) predators. Thoughts?
yes and the under story needs cleaning up, the cats trapped, the grackles need culling for they kill more birds than the cats do, but the eleania it left due to playing tapes simple as that
yes the beloved tepequaje
