Two great blue herons in a battle...I took video and these are clips from my video. It was a battle to the death I presume but I intervened and the battle ended by both flying off.

2 frigates on shrimp boat hook in bill

Two frigates came in on a shrimp boat yesterday and one seems to have a hook in its beak. They came into the Brazos Santiago Pass and left the boat as the outriggers riased.

Mangrove Warblers, Frigate on Shrimp Boat

This male frigate rode in on a shrimp boat but took flight as soon as they began to raise their outriggers. Great to see an adult male

more Jacana photos

Jacana in Weslaco

First thankyou for your posts on the pelagic bird and here are some photos of the Jacana taken around noon at Llano Grande in Weslaco World Birding Center. This is an awesome bird.

Tift boats bring in off shore bird

As George and I cruised around to watch the last of the Texas International fishing Tournament boats bring their catch to the docks at South Point we saw a little bird in the water and here are some photos of it. It is an off shore bird that should be out to see so it must have spent a weary day on one of the yachts and then flew off at the dock only to land in the water unable to fly. As soon as I get word on what bird it is I will post the name. I think it is a shearwater. I will certainly be happy for any comments on the bird and its identity.
Also a young dolphin was being pestered by a Ramora yesterday and leaps many times to try to dislodge it. I missed the leaps as I had just left to pick up another group but George saw the huge leaps. I did manage to get photos of the Remora on the dolphin though. George and I figured it had to be a Remora to make this baby jump so high and so many times.
